What is CHPL?
FOSSIL CHPL (Custom High Pressure Laminate) is digitally printed HPL (high pressure laminate). We manufacturer our panels by layering resin impregnated sheets with a digital print. The top layers are clear and the backing layers black. The assembly is melted under extreme heat and pressure for over an hour. The clear resins are absorbed right into the print. It’s then cooled while still under pressure forming a composite graphic panel. FOSSIL exterior grade panels also incorporate additional UV and graffiti overlays.
Is Fossil Mounted to a Backing?
No, the backing and graphic are one solid piece that can never delaminate. There’s also no seal to compromise. FOSSIL CHPL (Custom High Pressure Laminate) panels can be cut to any shape, and can include holes and threaded inserts.
What Thickness Should I Choose?
FOSSIL offer a variety of thicknesses, from sanded back thin laminate to 1″ solid structural panels. The most popular are 1/2″ and 1/8″. 1/2” thick panels normally include threaded inserts on the back. They bolt to walls, railings, and posts without visible hardware or a frame. 1/8” thick panels can be attached with adhesive or screws through the face. They’re also mounted in frames.
Can Panels Be Cut In Any Shape?
Yes, we offer detailed panel profiling. Design possibilities include cut-outs within the panel, shaped edges, even 3-D layering.
Can Fossil Panels Be Drilled or Cut On-Site?
No problem. Drilling or cutting does not affect the integrity of the panel or affect the warranty.
How Can Graffiti Be Removed
FOSSIL CHPL (Custom High Pressure Laminate) is the only graffiti proof panel. Paint and graffiti are easily removed with any solvent without damage to the surface.
What’s the Best Way to Clean Panels?
FOSSIL CHPL (Custom High Pressure Laminate) panels are protected with our exclusive finish and are easy to clean. The surface is so smooth and inert that an annual soap and water washing may well be all that is needed to keep signs looking clean and bright.

Does Fossil Offer Art Production and Design Services?
Yes, we can help create production ready files. FOSSIL also offer design services. Send us any photos, logos, text and ideas that you have. We’ll create beautiful, cost effective panel designs for you.
What is a Color Sample?
A Color Sample is an 8″x 10″ piece of thin laminate used to confirm color and resolution. The sample normally includes multiple sections of the panel at full size. FOSSIL supplies PDF layouts for content approval.
Does the Number of Colors Affect the Price?
No, our digital imaging technology allows for unlimited colors and photos.
How Do I Send My Files?
There are three ways to send your files to Fossil:
Mail: DVD, USB or hard drive.
Email: 4MB or less.

Does Fossil Offer Mounting Hardware?
Yes, we offer a full line of pedestals, posts, frames and mounting brackets. They match perfectly with our FOSSIL Graphic panels. Don’t see exactly what you need, let us design and fabricate a custom solution for you.
What Material Do You Use?
Our mounting hardware is normally made of durable powder coated aluminum. Steel and Corten weathering steel are also available.
What Is Powder Coating?
Powder coating is a dry painting process that creates a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.
Is The Hardware Available In Different Colors?
Yes, we offer a variety of standard colors. We can also provide custom PMS color matching.
